The Brazilian Sugarcane Industry Association's (UNICA) Chief North American Representative joins us this week on Open Mic to make the case for substantial changes in U.S. government support for corn-based ethanol. Joel Velasco responds to criticism of Brazilian subsidies for sugar-based ethanol and tackles concerns that Brazilian biofuel production will accelerate deforestation in the Amazon Rainforest. As EPA prepares to decide whether to allow E15, Velasco talks about Brazil's acceptance of mid-level blends, and he also puts Brazilian interest in U.S. ethanol policy in a larger bilateral context.
