WASHINGTON, Dec. 23, 2013 - “Duck Dynasty” star Alan Robertson, the show's "beardless brother," will be a keynote speaker at the American Farm Bureau Federation's (AFBF) 95th Annual Convention next month in San Antonio, the organization announced today.
Alan is the oldest son of Phil Robertson, whose Louisiana-based Duck Commander Company makes duck calls and other duck-hunting merchandise.
Alan “grew up hunting and fishing, helping to build the foundation of the company in the 1970s and 1980s,” according to a Farm Bureau press release. He served as a full-time minister in Louisiana for 25 years before returning to the family business in 2012.
“Duck Dynasty”, which details the adventures of the rough and tumble Robertson clan, is one of the A&E Network's most popular shows. But the reality hit has received a spate of bad press after Phil Robertson called gay sexuality “sinful” in an interview with GQ magazine.
In response, A&E placed Phil “under hiatus from filming indefinitely,” the network announced last week. “His personal views in no way reflect those of A&E Networks, who have always been strong supporters and champions of the LGBT community,” the company said.
More than 7,000 Farm Bureau members are expected to gather in San Antonio for the event, AFBF says.
