WASHINGTON, July 15, 2015 – Four state Farm Bureau presidents have thrown their name in the hat to be considered as the next president of the American Farm Bureau Federation, seeking to replace current President Bob Stallman who announced yesterday that he will not seek re-election.
Stallman’s successor will be elected to a two-year term by voting delegates on Jan. 12 during AFBF’s annual convention and trade show in Orlando, Florida.
On Tuesday, four potential candidates announced their intention to run for the influential post including Indiana Farm Bureau’s Don Villwock, Georgia Farm Bureau’s Zippy Duvall, Arizona Farm Bureau’s Kevin Rogers and current AFBF Vice President and Oregon Farm Bureau’s President Barry Bushue.
As Agri-Pulse first reported Tuesday morning, Villwock sent a note to all state Farm Bureau presidents, alerting them to his interest in the position.
“After discussions with my family and encouragement from many of you, I have made the decision to seek the presidency of the American Farm Bureau at our convention in January,” Villwock wrote in a memo obtained by Agri-Pulse.
