WASHINGTON, May 31, 2013 – The ethanol industry’s Growth Energy announced today that agricultural policy expert Jim Miller will serve as its vice president and chief economist.

Miller, a Washington State native, most recently served as senior policy advisor on the Senate Budget Committee under Sen. Kent Conrad, D-N.D. Miller was the primary advisor and analyst for agricultural policy and trade issues.

Prior to his service on Capitol Hill, Miller was appointed by President Obama and confirmed by the Senate to serve as the under secretary for USDA’s Farm and Foreign Agriculture Services. In addition, Miller has held leadership roles at the National Farmers Union and the National Association of Wheat Growers.

 “Jim has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the issue areas that are critical to our membership and the biofuels industry and I am confident that Jim will play an instrumental role as we continue to promote the benefits of clean burning, homegrown renewable fuels,” said Tom Buis, Growth Energy chief executive officer. “Specifically, Jim will play a central role in highlighting the economic benefits that biofuels play in our economy.”
