WASHINGTON, March 18, 2014—USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) opened a Dow AgroSciences cotton product for public comment today and also announced market availability for a soybean product developed by BASF Plant Sciences.

APHIS made available in the Federal Register today a petition from Dow seeking nonregulated status for cotton genetically engineered for resistance to the herbicides 2,4-D and glufosinate.

The petition is available for a 60-day public review and comment period. Comments are accepted through May 19 at this website.

APHIS also announced a determination of nonregulated status for BASF’s soybean genetically engineered for resistance to the herbicide imidazolinone. The notice also includes the availability of our written determination and finding of no significant impact.
