Lucas, Conaway ask for ag representation at CFTC

WASHINGTON, Feb. 24, 2012- Chairman of the House Agriculture Committee Frank Lucas (R-Okla.) and Rep. Mike Conaway (R-Texas) sent a letter to Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Chairman Gensler regarding the CFTC’s inactive Agricultural Advisory Committee. A new Chair has not been appointed since Commissioner Michael Dunn’s retirement in October.

“Recently, it has become more important than ever to have a strong advocate for our farmers and ranchers at the CFTC.  Yet, the Ag Advisory Committee has been without leadership and inactive since October,” states the letter. “I would ask that you appoint a Chair as soon as is practical to ensure that its voice continues to be heard during this critical time at the Commission.”
