Agri-Pulse hires Ellison as managing editor

Bob Ellison, a trained broadcast journalist with decades of experience, is joining Agri-Pulse as managing editor.

“Bob brings a wealth of experience with the department and agricultural policy as well as with multimedia storytelling. He’ll be an invaluable asset as Agri-Pulse deepens its industry-leading coverage of food and ag policy and broadens the company’s product lines,” said Agri-Pulse Editor-in-Chief Philip Brasher.

Ellison’s responsibilities will include overseeing development and production of Agri-Pulse’s multimedia products as well as managing our team of journalists from Washington to Sacramento.

Ellison, who has a degree in broadcast journalism from the University of North Carolina, spent 16 years with USDA’s Creative Media and Broadcast Center where he produced and edited TV features, video podcasts and other products.

He later served as a public affairs specialist with USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service and for the past five years managed a team of writers in the Farm Production and Conservation mission area.

Prior to joining USDA, he worked at WPTF Radio and Television and the North Carolina Farm Bureau in Raleigh, North Carolina, before joining the American Farm Bureau Federation in Washington.

Ellison and his wife and daughter live in Falls Church, Virginia.
