Jefferson City, MO, Aug. 25 – Missouri Farm Bureau continued its tradition of holding an election year Straw Poll at the Farm Bureau building at the Missouri State Fair. This year’s Straw Poll asked who fairgoers would support for election to the United States Senate from Missouri, Congressman Roy Blunt or Missouri’s Secretary of State Robin Carnahan.

The breakdown of the 6,426 ballots cast in the Straw Poll shows Republican Roy Blunt leading with 67% of the vote, versus 33% for Democrat Robin Carnahan.

Since first conducted at the Missouri State Fair in 1980, Farm Bureau’s Straw Poll has never failed to accurately predict the candidate a majority of rural voters will support in November.
