Energy challenges, strategies are the focus at ARPA-E

WASHINGTON, Jan. 26, 2017 - Energy experts will be coming together at the end of February to address America’s energy challenges at the annual Energy Innovation Summit.

Now in its eighth year, the three-day program sponsored by the Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E), will take place Feb. 27-March 1 at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland, just across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C.

More than 2,000 energy innovators, investors and policymakers will attend, DOE says, for an opportunity to discuss cutting-edge energy technologies.

The summit also provides an opportunity for energy stakeholders to cultivate relationships with leaders from industry, government and academia – “today’s top minds in energy,” says DOE – to advance technologies towards deployment.

Sen. Cory Gardner, R-Colo., and Rep. Mark Takano, D-Calif., are the featured congressional speakers.

A host of industry and academic leaders are also scheduled to speak, including Duke Energy CEO Lynn Good, MIT President L. Rafael Reif and Columbia University’s Center for Sustainable Development Director Jeffrey Sachs.

The event’s Technology Showcase will feature some 275 innovative technologies from across all energy sectors, including prototypes and commercial-ready products. DOE notes that many of these technologies will be on public display for the first time.

“The showcase brings ARPA-E awardees and other top technologists together with investors and corporate decision makers who are looking to transform how energy is created, used and stored,” DOE says. To learn more about the event, click here.
