Washington, Oct. 25 - In an interview with Agri-Pulse, Michael Arny, president of the Leonardo Academy, defended its consensus-based process for drafting a National Sustainable Agriculture Standard. Ten voting members of the Academy's standard-writing committee abandoned the effort last week, claiming it was biased against “mainstream agriculture.” Arny disagreed with their assessment and provided links to documents posted below that contain the current versions of the economic, environmental and social principles endorsed by a majority of the committee members.
