Washington, April 27 – Will the second time be a charm? After the first field hearing was postponed in light of what appeared to be a looming government shutdown, Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman Debbie Stabenow rescheduled the Committee’s first Farm Bill field hearing. The new date: May 31 at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Mich. The event will run from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Kellogg Center, Michigan State University

The hearing, “Opportunities for Growth: Michigan and the 2012 Farm Bill,” will focus on the upcoming reauthorization of the Farm Bill, examining agriculture as well as energy, conservation, rural development, research, forestry and nutrition policies that affect Michigan.

Witnesses for this hearing have not been officially announced, but sources say many of those scheduled for the original hearing will likely be on the roster.
