Texas Tech University graduate Allie Herring has joined the Agri-Pulse team of journalists as an intern this summer in Washington.
Herring will write for the Agri-Pulse and Agri-Pulse West newsletters — which are must-read, subscriber-only products offering the latest ag and food policy information — and contribute to the Agri-Pulse DriveTime podcast and Newsmakers TV show available at Agri-Pulse.com. She will also help compile the annual Agri-Pulse CEO salary report.
A Texas native, Herring graduated from Texas Tech University in May with dual degrees in agricultural communications and agribusiness. She served as editor of the university’s Agriculturist magazine during the spring 2025 semester.
“We’re excited to have someone with Allie’s background and experience join us to help cover Congress and the Trump administration during an historic time for agriculture and food policy,” said Editor in Chief Philip Brasher.
During college, Herring completed internships with the House Ag Committee, Combest, Sell & Associates and the Texas Techsan Magazine.

She was named the outstanding student in the Davis College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources at graduation.
“I’m very excited to work with the Agri-Pulse team this summer,” Herring said. “It’s a great opportunity to learn from talented journalists while drawing upon my previous experiences in ag policy and communications.”
Herring also participated in Agriculture Future of America, Mortar Board and Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow organizations while in college. She was the recipient of the Forrest Bassford Student Award at the 2024 Ag Media Summit for excellence, leadership and professionalism in the agricultural communications field. She was also recognized as a 2024 scholarship recipient of the National Association of Farm Broadcasting.
