Spencer Chase promoted to Deputy Managing Editor

WASHINGTON, August 7, 2017 - Agri-Pulse is pleased to announce the promotion of Associate Editor Spencer Chase to the position of Deputy Managing Editor.

“Spencer is a very talented writer and broadcaster who has quickly grasped the broad array of issues we cover every day,” said Agri-Pulse Editor Sara Wyant. “We look forward to having him handle an expanded set of responsibilities with our growing communications firm.”

The South Dakota native began working with Agri-Pulse as an intern in 2013, covering agricultural policy issues on Capitol Hill, interviewing lawmakers for the “Meet the Lawmaker” series and assisting with the website and social media. He took a full-time position with Agri-Pulse in the summer of 2014, doing writing and broadcasting and later, producing an audio feed for Agri-Pulse each weekday.

From there his duties grew, including work on the “Meet the Farm Hands” video series that began a year ago. Chase began hosting the “Washington Week in Review” video on Agri-Pulse TV with Senior Editor Phil Brasher in the spring 2015. He’s appeared on C-SPAN’s Washington Journal and also frequently speaks and serves as a moderator at meetings.

“Reporting on farm and renewable energy issues in Washington has taught me a great deal and I’m looking forward to learning more as my career continues," Chase said. “I’ve truly enjoyed my time with Agri-Pulse, and I’m excited to continue with the company in a new role. I’m incredibly thankful for the support of family and friends, as well as Sara and the rest of my current and former Agri-Pulse colleagues over these last three years,”

Chase is an active member with National Association of Farm Broadcasting (NAFB), holding a spot on the NAFB board as East Region Vice President. He earned his degree in broadcast and news editorial journalism from South Dakota State University. Chase is originally from a farm near Wolsey, South Dakota. He was the South Dakota State FFA treasurer and a member of FarmHouse Fraternity. You can reach him at spencer@agri-pulse.com.
