WASHINGTON, May 21 - Kristin Merony has joined the Agri-Pulse team as our summer intern. She's no stranger to our newsletter and web site, but this will be her first year working for us in Washington, D.C. Last year, she contributed to www.Agri-Pulse.com with our “Ag in the Mainstream Media” section and conducted research on a variety of projects.
“We are excited to have Kristin with us this summer as we continue our focus on the 2012 Farm Bill and a wide variety of other farm and rural policy topics,” explained Agri-Pulse Editor Sara Wyant. “She brings a lot of energy and enthusiasm to our team.”
Merony is a Master of Environmental Management candidate at The Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. Focusing on the nexus between water and agriculture, Merony is hoping to bridge the two disciplines and help tackle the world's pressing environmental challenges.
Prior to Yale, Merony granduated from Michigan State University with a degree in environmental biology and zoology, where she earned honors distinction.
Merony spent the past year as the On-Farm Education Coordinator at the Yale Sustainable Food Project, working on community outreach and engagement. She also taught sustainable urban agriculture practices on The Farm, a teaching project that uses land at Yale to produce hundreds of varieties of vegetables, fruits, herbs and flowers.
Additionally, Merony spent the past two summers as an intern for the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation and Trout Unlimited.
