DES MOINES, Iowa, April 20, 2017 – The small town of Wever in southeast Iowa is now home to the first start-from-scratch nitrogen fertilizer plant built in the U.S. in more than 25 years. Iowa Fertilizer Co. (IFCO) officially began production at the plant Wednesday.

The trip comes as Chinese President Xi Jinping prepares to meet with President Donald Trump in Florida, but Brandstad said he won’t be joining those discussions.

DES MOINES, Iowa, Jan. 27, 2017 - Lots of farmers in Iowa are breathing a sigh of relief today after a favorable 3-2 ruling by the state Supreme Court in the lawsuit brought by the Des Moines Water Works seeking damages for alleged water pollution caused by nearby drainage districts.

Kailee Tkacz Buller, President and CEO of the National Oilseed Processors Association

This week’s Open Mic guest is Kailee Tkacz Buller, President and CEO of the National Oilseed Processors Association. The nation’s oilseed processing industry has rapidly been expanding capacity to meet growing demand for their products. Many new plants have been built, others are under construction and additional processing capacity could be added pending public policy decisions. Buller says renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel hold tremendous opportunities for further oilseed industry expansion. Buller hopes 40Z tax credit rules will include more acceptable climate smart production practices and less bundling. NOPA opposes policies that place caps on vegetable oil capacity and encourage imports of used cooking oil from foreign countries.
