WASHINGTON, Feb. 22, 2022 – Agri-Pulse Communications, Inc., is pleased to announce that Garrett Downs has joined the digital media company as an associate editor.

“We are excited have an enterprising journalist like Garrett join our team in Washington, D.C.,” says Agri-Pulse editor Sara Wyant. “He’s already gained valuable experience working on Capitol Hill and in New York, so he will be able to hit the ground running as we continue to expand our coverage of agriculture, food and rural policy issues.”

Downs previously worked as a reporter at Inside U.S. Trade and prior to that, as an intern for POLITICO New York where he co-authored POLITICO’s New York – New Jersey energy newsletter and worked as an editorial clerk and a freelancer for the New York Post.

As an Ozanam Scholar at St. John’s University, he worked on a variety of social justice issues, including registering New York’s homeless for state IDs, participating in hurricane relief efforts in Puerto Rico, studying migrant movements in Europe while living in Rome, Italy, and conducting field research with the indigenous Shuar of Ecuador. Downs graduated from St. John’s University with a B.S. in Journalism.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the team at Agri-Pulse, a cutting-edge publication known as the most trusted source for agriculture news in Washington and across the country,” Downs said. “I look forward to delivering reliable news from Capitol Hill and beyond for Agri-Pulse’s growing and influential audience.”
