USDA projects smaller ag trade deficit despite falling exports

The Agriculture Department projected Thursday the U.S. agricultural trade deficit would narrow in fiscal 2026 despite an expected plunge in sales to China, which has yet to reach a trade deal with President Donald Trump. The deficit is expected to decline because imports are projected to drop even more than exports.
