Yuma-based Gowan Co. has officially acquired the Netherlands-based agri-tech firm Ceradis, integrating it into the Gowan Group as part of a strategic push to expand its innovation pipeline and global footprint.

Ceradis specializes in crop protection compounds and biocontrol solutions. It designs biomineral technologies to complement or reduce reliance on conventional chemical inputs while improving disease management efficacy in a more environmentally conscious framework.

Gowan says the deal solidifies its presence in Europe and the Americas, expands its R&D capabilities, and enhances its ability to support growers with more tailored, science-driven solutions.

“This acquisition strengthens Gowan’s long-term strategy of building a diversified, sustainable crop protection portfolio,” said Rob Plaice, global head of R&D. “Ceradis’s unique biocontrol solutions and forward-thinking formulation technology align well with Gowan and our future.”

Ceradis CEO Willem-Jan Meulemeesters said the acquisition opens a new chapter.

“Gowan shares our deep commitment to innovation, sustainability and providing growers with practical, science-driven solutions,” said Meulemeesters. “Together, we will expand the reach of our biocontrol offerings, accelerating the adoption of more sustainable disease management strategies worldwide.”

Beyond the technological synergies, the deal is also notable to Ceradis’ investors. Ceradis had been a portfolio company of Pymwymic’s Healthy Ecosystems Impact Fund I. The acquisition marks the fund’s fourth exit, underscoring the growing sector momentum behind biocontrol and sustainable agriculture solutions.
