WASHINGTON, Jan. 15, 2015—USDA announced its regulatory approval of Monsanto’s genetically engineered crops resistant to the dicamba herbicide.

USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) released its determination of nonregulated status for the company’s cotton resistant to dicamba and glufosinate, as well as its dicamba-tolerant soybean.

In December, the agency released its positive conclusions from the final Environmental Impact Statement for the products, known as Monsanto's Roundup Ready 2 Xtend soybeans and Bollgard II XtendFlex cotton.

The company first submitted its petitions to USDA for the products in 2012, according to APHIS documents.

The Environmental Protection Agency must still complete its concurrent review of the related herbicides.
