WASHINGTON, May 26, 2015 – Agri-Pulse is pleased to announce the appointment of Daniel Martin as a summer intern, effective May 26, 2015.

Martin is a senior at Kansas State University, studying agricultural communications and journalism, with an emphasis on agricultural economics.

“We are really pleased to have a young journalist like Daniel join us this summer,” said Sara Wyant, Agri-Pulse Editor and Publisher. “He will help us with a variety of editorial responsibilities in our administrative offices, located in Camdenton, Mo. In addition, Dan will help us expand our Future Ag Leader program which currently reaches over 30 colleges and universities who use Agri-Pulse as a teaching tool in their classrooms.”

Martin, who previously attended Blinn College in Bryan, Texas and South Plains College in Levelland, Texas, served in the Governor’s Internship Program in Topeka, Kansas, during the summer of 2014 where he worked as the Kansas Water Office communications intern.

Martin serves as an officer in the Kansas State University National Agri-Marketing Association. He also volunteers as a small group leader at his church and was previously a member of Beta Upsilon Chi fraternity.

Martin, who grew up in the western Kansas community of Hugoton, says his roots run deep in agriculture through his family business.

“I would one day like to help continue this treasured way of life,” Martin says. “I feel that we need people from these areas to help get their message out either through policy development or reporting on the policy. Eventually I would like to be involved in policy development to help strengthen rural communities.”
