WASHINGTON, March 2, 2016 - Iowans are strongly in favor of
the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS), according to a recent
poll conducted by the Des
Moines Register.
Seventy-one percent of Iowans polled said they favor the
RFS. And while there are deep divides along party lines on other issues, the
poll shows Republicans, Democrats and Independents closely aligned on approval
of the RFS mandate, at 66 percent, 76 percent and 71 percent, respectively.
Iowans who identify as Tea Party supporters were 64 percent in favor.
GOP Presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz, who hails from
Texas, won the Iowa caucuses in February despite campaigning against the
Renewable Fuel Standard.
