Washington, Oct. 20 – Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack has declined a request by 115 House members for USDA to conduct a comprehensive economic study of livestock and poultry marketing reforms proposed by USDA's Grain Inspection, Packers and Stockyards Administration (GIPSA). In a letter to each lawmaker, Vilsack says USDA is not obligated to do additional cost-benefit analysis until after the period for public comments on the controversial rule ends.
