WASHINGTON, July 12, 2017 - May ethanol exports were up 37 percent from April, according to the Renewable Fuels Association (RFA). At 119.2 million gallons (mg), a new record for the month was set. Brazil and Canada were the top buyers, receiving 80 percent of the monthly total exports. Brazil imported 64.3 mg of U.S. ethanol, while Canada took in 31.3 mg. Year-to-date U.S. ethanol exports stood at 594 mg through May, indicating an annualized export total of 1.43 billion gallons. Exports of undenatured fuel ethanol hit 82 mg in May, up 45 percent from April. In denatured fuel ethanol exports, May shipments tallied at 34 mg, up some 44 percent from April. Exports of denatured and undenatured ethanol for non-fuel, non-beverage purposes totaled 3.2 mg.
