There should be a fresh look today at President Donald Trump’s impact on agricultural trade in USDA’s quarterly trade outlook. The report will show us whether the ag trade deficit is growing, or whether Trump’s trade policy is putting a dent in it. 

The Agriculture Department is projecting no improvement in the U.S. agricultural trade outlook for fiscal 2025 as the department lowered its forecast for livestock product exports, offsetting increases for grains and oilseeds.

The value of U.S. agricultural exports over the past four years is 28.5% higher than when Joe Biden became president, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative and USDA announced Monday. 

The National Council of Agricultural Employers is seeking information on $98 million provided to the UFW Foundation to distribute to farmworkers, alleging that some of the workers claimed they were told they had to sign union authorization cards in order to receive the money.

The U.S. ag trade deficit continues to grow. USDA is now projecting it will reach $32 billion for fiscal 2024, up from $16.7 billion in FY23.
