The Kraft Heinz Co. announced June 17 that it would immediately halt the production of any new products in the U.S. containing food, drug and cosmetic (FD&C) colors.

In the same announcement, the company pledged to eliminate any remaining FD&C colors from U.S. products by the end of 2027. While most Kraft Heinz products are already free of these colors, the company said it will be using a “three-pronged approach” to tackle the remaining products containing dyes.

This process will include incorporating natural colors into products, removing colors that are identified as “not crucial” to consumers, and reinventing new colors for products in which natural alternatives are not an option.

Kraft Heinz said it is encouraging licensees of its brands to remove these colors from their products as well.
