USDA will host a farmers market on the National Mall from Aug. 3-8 featuring farmers, vendors and live music to celebrate the countdown to America's 250th anniversary.

The “Great American Farmers Market,” will follow a tradition of USDA farmers markets that began in 1995. Typically open to local vendors in the Washington area, this year’s event will have farmers from across the country participating in this “major market opportunity,” according to USDA.

“Farmers helped found our nation and for centuries have diligently passed down the craft of feeding, fueling and clothing their fellow patriots,” said Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins. “The Great American Farmers Market is a celebration of the almost 250 years since our inception and a chance to honor the heart of our nation: agriculture.”

The market, which will run daily from 4-8 p.m., cites its mission as celebrating America, supporting farmers and American-made products, promoting a “Make America Healthy Again” agenda and furthering ag education. The deadline for interested vendors to register for the market is July 13.
