Agribusiness giant Bunge has closed a previously announced acquisition of International Flavors & Fragrances’ soy protein concentrate, lecithin and soy crush businesses, seeking to take advantage of U.S. consumers' apparent increasing demand for protein.

IFF said in June the businesses generated $250 million in revenue in 2024. Bunge said the new businesses enhance the company’s position in the high-growth protein and lecithin markets.

Bunge has added IFF’s Response, Alpha, and Procon soy protein concentrate brands, which will help create “a range of textured, functional, and powdered soy protein concentrates, to support the development of higher-protein products in bakery, snacks, meats, alternative meats and more,” the company’s statement said.

IFF’S Solec brand will join BungeMaxx “to provide a complete line of liquid, powdered, and fractionated lecithins from soy, sunflower, and rapeseed,” Bunge said.
