NEW HAMPSHIRE, July 12, 2017 - The French food group Danone has agreed to sell Stonyfield Farm, its U.S.-based dairy business, to Lactalis, the world’s largest dairy products group, for $875 million.
The sale was meant to alleviate competition concerns after Danone acquired WhiteWave, a U.S. organic food group including brands like Silk, Horizon, and Earthbound Farm. Stonyfield, a New Hampshire-based maker of organic yogurt, owns brands including YoBaby, Yo Toddler, YoKids and Oikos. The sale is expected to close in the third quarter of this year.
