Barbecue costs for Americans have reached a new high, according to the 2025 Rabobank BBQ Index. For the first time, the cost of a summer cookout will exceed the $100 threshold, with the index reporting the average cost to be $103 for a 10-person barbecue. This reflects a 4.21% increase from 2024, when the same barbecue cost $99, and a 41% increase from 2018, when the cookout was estimated to cost $73.

U.S. egg imports jumped in February just as wholesale prices started falling and Mexico and Turkey began scaling their U.S. exports, according to the latest Commerce Department data. But while imports are contributing to falling prices, they may not be a major driver, analysts say.

Shoppers are more concerned about expenses for gas, housing, groceries and purchasing holiday gifts in 2024 than a year ago despite limited inflation, according to FMI: The Food Industry Association. 

Grocery prices rose 0.2% in December, driven in part by another spike in the cost of eggs and an increase in beef prices that helped offset declines in many other categories.
