Farm Hands on the Potomac: McNitt rejoins NCGA, Skahill to lead MICA, new AEB officers

Lesly Weber McNitt returned to the National Corn Growers Association this week as vice president of public policy, leading the Washington office and serving as the chief advocate. She worked at NCGA from 2017 to 2021 managing NCGA trade and biotech portfolios. McNitt earlier was senior professional staff member on the House Ag Committee, chief of staff at USDA Farm and Foreign Agricultural Services and most recently a leader at the global malnutrition philanthropy Eleanor Crooke Foundation.

Farm Hands on the Potomac: Senate Ag adds economist; Ruhland joins FTI Consulting; NGFA hires Foss

Senate Ag Committee ranking member John Boozman added Brad Weddelman to staff as chief economist. The National Grain and Feed Association hired Berit Linnehan Foss as vice president of feed and sustainability effective Dec. 18.

FTI Consulting hired Polly Ruhland to expand the firm’s food, agriculture and beverage practice. USDA announced appointments to the Cotton Board, Popcorn Board, American Lamb Board, Grain Inspection Advisory Committee and American Egg Board, among others.

2026 White House Easter Egg Roll

Tens of thousands of guests visited the White House South lawn for the annual White House Easter Egg Roll. Hosted by First Lady Melania Trump, 40,000 eggs real American-raised, hand dyed eggs were at the event for the annual egg rolling festivities. In his remarks to the crowd, President Donald Trumps used his remarks to say the day "is about eggs" and speak about the nation's rescue mission to save a downed airman in Iran. 

Attendees also had the opportunity to walk through numerous displays, including the American Egg Board's Hen to Home booth featuring the production cycle from soybean feed to freshly hatched baby chicks. 150 chicks hatched in Georgia on Good Friday and were meeting attendees in the booth. The International Fresh Produce Association also had a display featuring an American flag designed with fresh produce, as well as fresh flowers, fruits, and vegetables for attendees to take home.
