USB names Knupp as new CEO

The United Soybean Board has named Courtney Knupp its new chief executive officer, starting Oct. 1. The Iowa native currently serves as director of global supply chain at the National Security Council, where she coordinates U.S. policy to strengthen the resilience of the agriculture and food sectors.

Senate Ag Committee ranking member John Boozman added Brad Weddelman to staff as chief economist. The National Grain and Feed Association hired Berit Linnehan Foss as vice president of feed and sustainability effective Dec. 18.

FTI Consulting hired Polly Ruhland to expand the firm’s food, agriculture and beverage practice. USDA announced appointments to the Cotton Board, Popcorn Board, American Lamb Board, Grain Inspection Advisory Committee and American Egg Board, among others.

Farm Hands on the Potomac: Newton leaves Senate Ag, USGC staff promotions, Humphreys departs USB

Tuesday was John Newton's last day as the chief economist for the Senate Agriculture Committee under ranking member John Boozman of Arkansas. Bob Petersen will retire from Petersen Consulting, the firm he founded in 2004. Erica Venancio, the firm’s senior executive, will assume leadership of the firm.  

After 13 years, Lisa Humphreys’ time at the United Soybean Board came to an “unexpected and abrupt halt,” she wrote in a LinkedIn post. The U.S. Grains Council has added staff and made multiple promotions: Burhan ChaudhryJuan Diaz, Sam Clemence, Lucas Rudy and Sam Redfern
