Goya Foods says it will add 324,00 square feet to its current 380,000-square-foot production facility west of Houston, where it makes more than 2,500 food products from Mexico, Central and South America. The current facility was built in 2014. The addition, with expected completion in 2018, will feature a total of 29 new dock doors for domestic and international distribution. “With the growing need for good nutrition, it's an opportune time for Goya to expand," Bob Unanue, president of the privately held company, said in a statement. "For more than 81 years, Goya has not only positioned itself as a leader in the Latin American food industry and a trusted American brand, but as an iconic symbol of the Hispanic culture." The company is based in Jersey City, New Jersey, where it cut the ribbon in 2015 on a $127-million headquarters and production plant.
