A new University of California-Davis landing page titled “From Labs to Lives” shows multimedia evidence about how federally research funds bolster innovation in sectors including agriculture.

The website includes a research brief on projects funded by USDA, which awarded the university some $135 million in 2024. Among innovations listed are development of new rice and wheat strains, the use of AI to improve crop yields and disease resistance, an the development of controlled-environment farming techniques and food safety technical assistance for small farms.

Other features include National Institutes of Health and National Science Foundation research briefs, in addition to direct-impact testimonies from UC-Davis academics across disciplines.

The page also links to a UC fact sheet on common NIH facilities and administrative funding misconceptions. It notes that NIH has been the largest funder of UC research, providing a total of $2.6 billion during the previous academic year.
