Bright-orange fingers may soon be a thing of the past as PepsiCo announced a new line of Doritos and Cheetos called Simply NKD, free of artificial flavors and dyes.
The colorless chips align with the Trump administration’s “Make America Healthy Again” initiative, which aims to remove all color additives from the food supply by the end of 2026. The initiative has been backed by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who, with others, links some chronic health issues among children to the use of synthetic dyes in foods.

Simply NKD will supplement PepsiCo’s existing product lines, not replace the original Doritos and Cheetos, which still contain artificial flavors and dyes such as Red 40, Yellow 5 and Yellow 6.
Products included in the new collection are:
Doritos Simply NKD Nacho Cheese
Doritos Simply NKD Cool Ranch
Cheetos Simply NKD Puffs
Cheetos Simply NKD Flamin’ Hot
“This move underscores our commitment to flavor leadership, demonstrating that our taste remains strong even without visual cues. As part of our broader transformation, we are expanding choices while still protecting our iconic brands. More choices, same flavor, same brand power,” said Rachel Ferdinando, CEO of PepsiCo Foods U.S.
The new chips are expected to hit grocery store shelves Dec. 1.
