Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) named Jeff Rowe, the former CEO of Syngenta Group, as executive vice president and chief operating officer to oversee the company's commercial businesses, global manufacturing and research and development operations.
Rowe will join ADM on Aug. 17 and report to Chairman and CEO Juan Luciano, the company announced Monday.
The appointment brings a longtime agriculture executive back to the U.S. grain and processing company after more than three decades in the seed and crop protection industries. Rowe most recently served as CEO of Syngenta Group, a role he assumed in January 2024 after previously leading the company's crop protection and seeds businesses.
Before joining Syngenta in 2016, Rowe spent more than 20 years at DuPont Pioneer in leadership positions focused on strategy, international operations, biotechnology and regulatory affairs.
In announcing the appointment, Luciano said Rowe's experience in innovation and operations will help advance ADM's long-term growth strategy.
“Jeff has an outstanding reputation in the industry as a proven leader with a strong track record of advancing innovation and operational excellence,” Luciano said. “I am confident that he will be a wonderful addition to ADM’s global family of leaders.”
A fifth-generation Illinois farmer, Rowe also helps operate his family's farm, which uses regenerative agriculture practices. He holds degrees in agricultural economics from Iowa State University, law from Drake University and a global executive MBA from New York University and the London School of Economics.
