EPA Administrator Michael Regan is forming a new Office of Agriculture and Rural Affairs at the agency, which he says will “expand engagement opportunities beyond any that we've done so far.”

Lawmakers have until Friday to pass the first of their fiscal 2024 spending bills, including the measure needed to fund USDA, or they’ll have to pass another stopgap spending measure to avert a partial shutdown of the government.  The Biden administration also is scheduled to announce a critical update of the GREET model that’s used to measure the carbon intensity of biofuels.

EPA’s top water regulator, Radhika Fox, is stepping down after nearly three years in the job where she helped lead the latest effort to rewrite the “waters of the U.S.” rule.

EPA and the Army Corps of Engineers are scrapping the “significant nexus” standard to determine when waters or wetlands are covered by the Clean Water Act, as well as their definition of “adjacent wetlands,” to comply with the Supreme Court’s decision in Sackett v. EPA.
