The American Soybean Association elected new members to its board of directors, including Ohio grower Scott Metzger as 2026 ASA president. The American Farm Bureau Federation hired Autumn Lankford Higgins as director of government affairs. Sustainable aviation fuel developer Gevo tapped Paul Bloom as CEO and a director on the company’s board. Pivot Bio announced additions to the senior management team, including Shekar Govindaswamy as principal scientist.

Veteran agricultural economist John Newton is returning to the American Farm Bureau Federation to oversee the government relations advocacy staff and team of economists. John Hollay was named the next president and chief executive officer of the National Council of Agricultural Employers. Dana Brooks, president and CEO of the Pet Food Institute for the past seven years, will step down in April. Fourteen House Republicans have come out against including language addressing California's Proposition 12 in the skinny farm bill, complicating a push by pork producers and other ag groups to overturn the 2018 law.

Farm groups and other USDA stakeholders are raising concerns about the impact the Trump administration’s reorganization plan will have on agencies and personnel.
