Over 100 biofuel plants across the country are fully idling or cutting production rates as gas prices fall because people are staying at due to the COVID-19 outbreak and major oil producers feud over output.
The International Trade Commission (ITC) voted unanimously that the U.S. biodiesel industry has been disadvantaged by imports of biodiesel from Argentina and Indonesia, a move that could pave the way for countervailing duties to be put in place by the end of the year.
Following negotiations with Argentine leaders last week, the U.S. Commerce Department could issue a final determination– perhaps as early as today – regarding countervailing duties on biodiesel imports from Argentina and Indonesia.

WASHINGTON, D.C., March 23, 2017 – The National Biodiesel Board is asking the U.S. government to impose duties against Argentina and Indonesia, charging that the two countries are unfairly subsidizing their biodiesel production and then dumping the fuel on the U.S. market at below production costs.
