The Department of Pesticide Regulation plans to increase the fees it charges to manufacturers for registering new pesticide products.

The additional revenue will backfill the costs for regulatory duties and support a transition to an online system. The department put out several options to consider for the new fees, including one that would quadruple the application fee. Staff are taking public comment until April 19 and the fees are expected to go into effect in September.

The fees would fund functions separate from those being considered within the departments proposal for overhauling the mill assessment on pesticide sales.
