Edible Garden Ag Inc., which uses controlled environment agriculture, announced that Kroger grocery stores across the U.S. will start carrying its USDA-certified organic fresh potted and cut herbs.

While already available at more than 5,000 retail locations across the U.S., the Caribbean and South America, Edible Garden's expansion into Kroger’s 2,700 stores marks a big move for the company in the Midwest.

“This expands access to our locally grown herb product line, meeting the growing demand for clean-label, better-for-you, and responsibly sourced produce,” says Edible Garden CEO Jim Kras.

As part of the partnership with Kroger, Edible Garden will also introduce its patented in-store displays, which are designed to extend shelf life and improve freshness.

The company is a member of Walmart’s climate-focused supply chain initiative, Project Gigaton.
