Senate Republicans hope to find out today whether they can salvage a key cost-cutting provision in their budget reconciliation bill.

After a lengthy recess, the House Appropriations Committee passed the fiscal year 2026 funding bill for USDA, the Food and Drug Administration and other agencies in a party-line vote.

Anti-hunger advocates are welcoming rulings by the Senate parliamentarian on the GOP budget reconciliation plan. The decisions will force GOP leaders to come up with new cuts to the bill or else accept a higher deficit increase.
