Kellanova, Walmart and Indigo Ag announced a partnership to support Arkansas rice farmers through regenerative agriculture practices.

The initiative, part of Indigo Ag’s Source by Indigo program, provides farmers with technical guidance, data and financial incentives for methods such as improved water management, optimized fertilizer use and crop rotation. Farmers earn a premium for every pound of rice grown using the practices.

The companies say ongoing Walmart-Indigo Ag efforts have reduced emissions by more than 37,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent, conserved 11 billion gallons of water and put over $900,000 in farmers’ pockets. Kellanova’s involvement expands the program.

“This partnership creates agricultural resiliency that increases farmer revenues, advances climate-smart practices and drives long-term impact,” said Janelle Meyers, chief sustainability officer at Kellanova.

Indigo Ag CEO Dean Banks said the program safeguards water, improves soil health, and reduces emissions while supporting farmers and their communities.
