Trump urged to retaliate against Canada for ‘protectionist’ dairy policy

WASHINGTON, April 5, 2017 – The U.S. dairy industry is asking the Trump administration to get tough with Canada. The National Milk Producers Federation, the U.S. Dairy Export Council and the International Dairy Foods Association today urged the White House to take action against Canada for “slamming the door to American dairy exports in violation of existing trade commitments between the two nations.”

FTC OKs ChemChina-Syngenta deal; EU follows suit

WASHINGTON, April 4, 2017 – ChemChina’s $43 billion acquisition of Syngenta was approved Tuesday the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, on the condition that ChemChina divest three of its generic pesticides – chlorothalonil, paraquat and abamectin. Approval by the European Commission followed on Wednesday.

Branstad preps for role as China ambassador as Xi heads to US

DES MOINES, Iowa, April 3, 2017 -- Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad heads to D.C. this week to meet with lawmakers and U.S. State Department officials about his nomination as Ambassador to China. The trip comes as Chinese President Xi Jinping prepares to meet with President Donald Trump in Florida, but Brandstad said he won’t be joining those discussions.
