Soybean growers worry as harvest nears with no China sales

Justin Sherlock and other farmers in North Dakota are just a month away from combining their soybean crop, and their biggest market, China, has yet to order a single bushel. As a result, local cash bids in Sherlock’s area was down to $9.09 a bushel on Tuesday, $1.40 below the CME Group’s November futures price. That spread, or basis, would normally be about 70 to 90 cents a bushel,

Elissa McLerran Gilliam has departed from the American Frozen Foods Institute to join the National Sorghum Producers. The Institute of Food Technologists hired Eric Ellis as chief financial officer. The American Coalition for Ethanol elected members to its board of directors.  

Wendell Calhoun was named senior communications manager for Syngenta North America Crop Protection. Matthew Vann was named associate dean and director of University of Illinois Extension. Longtime soy policy advocate and Delaware state Farm Service Agency executive director Richard Wilkins hasdied. The Renewable Fuels Association hired Ashley Viglione as a government affairs associate.
